Rebuilding a Smile After Two Road Accidents: A Sinus Lift, 7 Dental Implants and 28 Zirconium Crowns

Noel, from Northern Ireland. Two road accidents left him with broken and loose teeth and, over the years, several missing back ones. He was quoted over £30,000 to fix it at home. His treatment ran over three visits to Antalya between September 2025 and August 2026 — a sinus lift and bone graft first, then seven dental implants, and finally a complete zirconium reconstruction of both jaws. He paid £10,037.26 in total.

Noel’s Own Review

The Starting Point

Noel came to us with damage accumulated over years rather than a single problem. Two road accidents — one in a vehicle, one on a motorcycle — had left him with broken and loose teeth. Several back teeth had been lost along the way, and the teeth that remained had been carrying the load ever since.

His first panoramic X-ray, taken on the morning of 11 September 2025, showed the full picture: missing molars and premolars in all four quadrants, large amalgam restorations in the upper left placed many years earlier, horizontal bone loss around the lower front teeth, and inflamed, receded gum tissue. The upper front teeth had worn short and flat — the predictable result of front teeth doing the work of missing back ones.

Why the Upper Jaw Had to Be Prepared First

The upper back teeth had been missing long enough for the bone to resorb and the sinus cavity to expand downwards into the space. There was not enough bone height left to anchor an implant safely.

That is what a sinus lift is for: the sinus membrane is lifted and the space beneath it filled with grafting material, which matures into bone capable of holding an implant. In a case like this it cannot be done at the same time as placing the implant — the graft has to mature first. This is the single biggest reason the treatment ran across three visits rather than two, and it is worth understanding before booking, because no clinic can compress it.

The Treatment, Visit by Visit

Surgery was carried out by Özkan Özkaynak, D.D.S., Ph.D., our oral surgeon. The smile design, shade selection and fitting of the crowns were carried out by Yekta Özsoy, D.D.S.

Visit One — September 2025: Sinus Lift, Bone Graft and Lower Right Implants

On 15 September 2025, three premium Straumann dental implants were placed in the lower right, where the gaps were longest-standing, bone volume was adequate and the chewing load would be highest.

In the same visit the upper left was prepared for its own implants: a sinus lift with bone grafting using Straumann® maxgraft® (0.5 cc). Two teeth that could not be saved were extracted, one in each jaw.

Noel then returned home. Osseointegration — the process by which titanium fuses to the jawbone — typically takes three to six months, and a maturing sinus graft needs a similar period.

Visit Two — March 2026: Upper Left and Lower Left Implants

On 28 March 2026, the X-ray confirmed all three lower right implants had integrated and the grafted upper left site had matured. Four further implants were placed in that single visit: two in the lower left, and two in the upper left, into the bone the sinus lift had made available. A second bone graft was placed in the upper jaw at the same time. That brought the total to seven implants.

These four were Neodent® implants, made by the Straumann Group. Using the premium Straumann line where the load is greatest and the Neodent line elsewhere is a deliberate way to manage cost on a case this size — both come from the same manufacturer and carry the same lifetime guarantee on the fixture, and the difference is roughly £280 per implant at our list prices.

Visit Three — August 2026: 28 Zirconium Crowns

By August 2026 all seven implants had integrated. Over this visit, 28 zirconium porcelain dental crowns were fitted — 14 upper and 14 lower — combining implant-supported crowns with crowns on the prepared natural teeth. Remaining decay was treated with eight white fillings, one upper tooth needed root canal treatment, and two further lower teeth were extracted.

The shade chosen was 1M1 in our Natural Style shape. It is a bright shade, but the tooth proportions and edge detail were designed to suit a man of his age rather than produce the uniform, oversized look that gave “Turkey teeth” its reputation.

Against the £30,000 Quote at Home

Noel had been quoted over £30,000 for comparable treatment in Northern Ireland. That figure is consistent with UK private fees: on our dental treatment prices page we quote the typical UK cost of a single dental implant at £2,000 to £2,500, a single dental crown at around £700, a sinus lift at around £1,500 and a bone graft at around £600. Seven implants and 28 dental crowns alone reach £33,000 on those numbers, before the sinus lift, the two grafts, the fillings, the extractions or the root canal treatment.

Noel paid £10,037.26 in total — a saving of just under £20,000, or around 67%, including his hotel supplements. Return flights from Belfast for three trips would not come close to closing that gap.

Warranty and Aftercare

The dental implants carry a lifetime manufacturer’s guarantee on the titanium fixture. The zirconium dental crowns carry our 5-year cover: a 1-year “No Worries” warranty, which includes travel costs for any revision visit within 365 days, followed by a 4-year workmanship guarantee.

The conditions are the same for every patient: a yearly check-up with a panoramic X-ray and professional cleaning, and following the aftercare plan. Where teeth have been lost to trauma and the remaining ones have worn, a night guard matters more than usual — the forces that caused the original damage do not disappear because the teeth have been rebuilt.

Considering a Full-Mouth Restoration?

Cases like Noel’s are planned over months, not days. If you have lost back teeth in the upper jaw and been told there is not enough bone for implants, a sinus lift is usually the answer — it adds a healing stage rather than ruling treatment out.

Send us photographs of your teeth and any recent X-rays for a free online consultation, and we will tell you honestly how many visits your case is likely to need before you book anything. If your treatment plan comes to £3,250 or more, our all-inclusive Turkey Teeth Package is included free.
