Underbite and Worn Teeth Fixed in 4 Days With 28 Porcelain Crowns

Richard, from southern England. A family friend who had been treated here recommended us. Years of wear had ground his upper teeth down short and flat, and his lower front teeth closed level with them or in front of them: an underbite on top of worn teeth. He came to Antalya once, for four days in September 2026. On the morning of 1 September we photographed his teeth as they were. On 4 September he left with 28 porcelain crowns, his upper teeth closing in front of the lowers again. He paid £6,229.53.

Richard’s Own Review

Richard recorded this at our clinic in Antalya. The part worth watching starts at about 1:15: his finished crowns are brought in, and he checks them over before a single one is fitted. “I can’t believe it,” he says. “I think they’re the real ones.”

The Starting Point

Richard puts it plainly in the video: “very worn down teeth, a very crooked smile.” In an underbite the lower front teeth close on or ahead of the upper ones, so the edges meet head-on instead of sliding past each other. Teeth that meet like that wear down, and Richard’s showed it. By the time he came to us, his upper front teeth were short, flat along the edges and stained, and the lower teeth closed level with them or in front.

This is the part people tend to miss: once teeth are worn this far, just whitening them or covering the fronts does not fix anything. The length has to be rebuilt, and the new edges have to meet the lower teeth in the right place, or they wear down again.

Can You Get Veneers With an Underbite?

It is the first question most people with an underbite ask us, so here is the straight answer: not the thin laminate kind, no.

A laminate veneer is a thin shell of porcelain bonded to the front of the tooth. It changes colour and shape. It does not change where your teeth meet. With an underbite, the biting edge of a veneer takes the full load of the lower teeth, and thin porcelain under that load chips or comes away. That is why we do not recommend dental veneers for bite problems.

A crown covers the whole tooth. That gives the dentist control over length, thickness and angle, so the new upper teeth can be built long enough to close in front of the lowers again. For Richard that meant crowns on both jaws: 14 upper and 14 lower, so the top and bottom were designed to meet each other.

One honest limit. Crowns change how the teeth meet; they do not move the jaw. In Richard’s case, building the worn upper teeth back to their proper length was enough to bring them in front of the lowers. If your lower jaw itself sits well forward, crowns alone may not be enough, and orthodontics or jaw surgery may need to be part of the conversation. That is something we check from your photos and X-rays before we give you a plan.

The Four Days

Everything on the plan was done in a single visit, between the before photos on the morning of 1 September and the after photos on 4 September. He was collected from the airport, stayed in accommodation we arranged, and was picked up from his hotel every day of treatment.

The groundwork came first, because a crown is only as good as the tooth and gum underneath it. Three teeth needed white fillings, two upper and one lower. One lower tooth needed root canal treatment. On the upper jaw, gum contouring evened out the gumline, so the 14 new upper teeth would sit at matching heights instead of following the old, uneven line.

Then all 28 teeth were prepared and the dental crowns were designed and made for the new bite. The shade Richard chose was 1M1, among the lightest of the natural shades, in our Natural Style shape.

The Result

The easiest way to read these photos is to look at where the upper and lower front teeth meet. Before, the lower teeth sat level with or in front of the uppers. After, the upper teeth close over the lowers, the way they are meant to. The upper teeth are also visibly longer: that is the length the wear had taken away, built back.

What It Cost

These figures come from Richard’s signed treatment plan, at our standard published rates. Two discounts applied: our 5% campaign discount, then 10% for paying in cash.

Total paid: £6,229.53. That works out at about £205 per crown once the discounts are applied, and it covers the fillings, the root canal treatment and the gum contouring as well. Every price is on our dental treatment prices page.

Against UK Private Fees

On our prices page we put a zirconium crown in a UK private practice at around £700. Richard’s crowns are our premium high translucency version, so that is a conservative comparison. Even so, 28 crowns at £700 come to £19,600, before the fillings, the root canal treatment or the gum work.

He paid £6,229.53 for all of it, about £13,400 less than the crowns alone would cost at that UK rate. And it took four days, where the same work at home is usually spread across many appointments.
